Well known litigation funder Burford Capital has taken a minority equity stake in a London law firm called PCB Litigation in exchange for providing finance.
Burford now has a 32% stake in PCB Litigation, a commercial litigation firm with expertise in civil fraud and asset recovery. This will help to finance its existing portfolio of legal cases and provide some capital for further growth and expansion.
PCB has now converted to an ABS, alternative business structure as a result of this move. It was already growing rapidly, with its turnover rising to £6.5 million this year, up from £4 million a year earlier
